Review & Discuss The Job Requirements Having an accurate job description is the important step to finding the right candidate. As with building a software program, taking the time up front to analyze and plan, can save an enormous amount of time to achieve the desired result. At Blue Oasis, we work with the hiring manager to identify and prioritize the skills and the level of experience that are most important to find the right person. 2. Candidate Identification Through our candidate network, database and job postings we identify all candidates that match the skills and experience for the job. Our identification process reviews and rates a candidate based on their product skills, certifications, work experience, longevity, business experience, education, company size, titles, roles, responsibility and project size. 3. Candidate Screen Many resumes do not accurately describe a candidate's skills and experience. The initial screen allows us to confirm with the candidate that the skills and experience match the requirements of the job. Finding the right candidate for the position must be a win-win for both the company and the candidate. The company wants to ensure the candidate has the skills, experience and temperament that is a fit with the company goals and its culture. They look for an individual with passion, attention to detail, a strong work ethic and someone that will take ownership in the work they perform. The candidate wants to find an employer with opportunities to grow, both in technical skills and job responsibility. He or she wants to have their voice heard, be recognized for their efforts and wants to contribute to the success of the company. At Blue Oasis, as we screen a candidate, we are looking at each of these requirements to identify the unique individual that will enjoy their job and bring passion and energy toward building a better company. 4. Technical Interview The most important and unique step of our screening process is the technical interview. In this step, an experience and qualified engineer interviews the candidate and examines in detail, the candidates skills, experience and business knowledge. The technical interview is used to understand 4 key areas of each position held by the candidate. Role - What was the candidate's role on the project? Did they lead, follow or get out of the way? Approach - What approach was taken to complete the project? Can they defend the approach? What alternative approach(s) were considered? Exposure - How much REAL exposure, experience and skills does the candidate have with the tools, languages or products sets? Knowledge - What project, business and domain knowledge have they acquired while working on other projects? How well will it transfer and benefit our client? Book smart isn't enough. Our technical interview goes beyond testing the candidate's skills. We want to learn how the candidate thinks, how they use their skills on real projects and if they can apply their skills to solve our client's toughest problems. 5. Reference Checking Each candidate is asked to provide a reference from their past 3 positions. These references are called and interviewed to get a different perspective of the job and the candidate's performance. Since most references are expected to be favorable to the candidate, our goal is to find out more about their job responsibilities, their overall satisfaction with the candidate and his or her work ethic.
